This is the infamous Calgary's Own gonad beer. It's really a bitter, make it and judge for yerself. It comes in @ 6.3%/vol - quite nice for the holiday season. Probably knock it back to a more quaffable 5.0% next time. Comments, please! chris in gonangium country


Recipe type: All Grain
Batch Size: 23 litres
Starting Gravity: 1.055
Finishing Gravity: 1.007
Time in Boil: 90 mins
Primary Fermentation: 9 days too long
Secondary Fermentation: 12 days
Additional Fermentation: n/a



Mash grain into 15 litres water @ 172. Stabilize @ 151F 1 1/2 hrs or until conversion. Mash out. Sparge w/ 16.4 litres. Start boil with 26 litres End up with 23.5 litres. Pitch 1 litre yeast starter. Sparge hops w/ 1.5 litres 23.5 litres to plastic primary. Rack to 23 litre glass carboy.
