Black Sheep Lager

This is not a traditional bavarian black in that it uses the de bittered black, but this gives it a nice refreshing character that is very drinkable. It has the color of coca-cola but is as refreshing as a munich helles.

Time in Boil: 65 min
Primary Fermentation: 60 F
Secondary Fermentation: 50 F
Additional Fermentation: 32 F
Ingredients:
- 6 Lbs Durst pilsner
- 2 lbs DWC pilsner
- .5 lbs DWC de-bittered black
- .5 lbs durst dark crystal
- 1oz spalt hops (60 min)
- .5 oz crystal hops (10 min)
- White labs german lager yeast in a 1 qt starter
Procedure:
Standard double decoction mash with the crystal and black malt added to the final rest only.
