This was the very first beer I brewed. It came out wonderful! It had a very rough head, and a nice chocolate taste. Very dark, very good! If you try it, let me know how you like it. Very popular with all my friends. Almost a stout according to my brother who has more experience with dark beers than I.

Boiled all 5 gallons of water, added Amber extract, and Porter mix. Brought back to a boil. Added Nugget hops, boiled for one hour. Then shut off the heat and added Tettenager hops. Let cool to about 150* (approx. 20 min.) started rapid cooling with the copper coil method. At around 70* pitched the yeast. I single fermented this puppy for two weeks and then primed and bottled. Another two weeks in the bottle, and it was ready.
