This was only my 5th attempt at brewing, but I was estatic on the results. Very American Micro-brew like.... Nice summer-type beer!!
Specifics
Recipe type: Extract
Batch Size: 5 gallons
Starting Gravity: 1.05
Finishing Gravity: 1.010
Time in Boil: 1 hour
Primary Fermentation: 4 days at 70F
Secondary Fermentation: 10 days @ 70f
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb. Light Chrystal malt
- 3.3 lbs. Munto & Fison extra light malt extract
- 3 lbs. Dutch light DME
- 1.5 oz. Wilamette hop pellets (boiling)
- .5 oz Wilamette hop pellets (last 15 minutes)
- 1 tsp. Irish moss
- 1 pkg. Wyeast #1056 American Ale yeast
- 3/4 cup corn sugar (for primimg)
Procedure:
Brush grain; place in grain bag. Add 3 gals cold water and crushed grain to brewpot, slowly bring to boil. Remove grain at 170F. Bring to boil. At boilinhg point, remove brewpot from heat and add extract and DME. Stirr well to avoid scorching. Return wort to a boil. Start timimg boil and add goiling hops. 45 mins later, add finishing hops and Irish moss. Boil 15 mins. longer. Remove from heat and place brewpot (covered) in icebath untill temp. is below 100F. Add wort to fermenter and add chilled cater to equal 5 gallons. When cooled to 80F or below, pitch yeast (Started earlier..see directions on yeast pkg.)
