I entered my first competition wjth this beer and came out with a silver medal at the Arizona Beer Festival. Friends who do not like home brew like this one.

Recipe type: Extract
Batch Size: 5 gallons
Starting Gravity: 1.040
Finishing Gravity: 1.010
Time in Boil: 1 hour
Primary Fermentation: 4 days 50 degrees
Secondary Fermentation: 21 days 50 degrees
Ingredients:
- 6.6 lbs Light Extract
- 1/4 lb Crystal Malt
- 1/2 lb Toasted Malt
- 2 1/2 oz Saaz 4.2% (Boiling)
- 1/2 oz Hallertau 3.2% (Flavor)
- 1/2 oz Saaz 3.3% (Finishing)
- 1 tsp Irish Moss
- Bohemian Lager Yeast #2124
Procedure:
Steep grains in 2 gallons of water. Take out when boil starts and add extract and boiling hops. Add irish moss at 45 min. Add flavor hops at 50 minutes. Add finishing hops at 58 minutes. Remove from heat at one hour and cool to 78 degrees. Pitch yeast. Keep in primary for 4 days at 50 degrees. Rack to secondary and let sit for three weeks at 50 degrees. Bottle with 1 cup corn sugar and 1c water. Let sit three weeks and enjoy.
