Specifics
Recipe type: Extract
Batch Size: 5 gallons
Starting Gravity: 1.049
Finishing Gravity: 1.010
Time in Boil: 60 min.
Primary Fermentation: 4 days
Secondary Fermentation: 2 days
Additional Fermentation: none
Ingredients:
- 6 lbs pale extract
- 1 lb honey malt grain
- 1 lb lt crys malt 20 lv
- 1/4 lb Roasted barley
- 1/4 lb Peat smoked grain
- 2 oz Chinook hop pellets 60 min
- 1/2 oz Nothern hop pellets 15 min
- 1/4 tes irish Moss 15 min
- 1/2 oz Norther hop pellets 2min
- 2 pac Nottingham Ale Yeast
Procedure:
Put the grains into the cheesecloth grainbag and tie a knot at the top of the bag (leave some room for the grains to “swish around” within the bag).
Add water to your brewpot and throw the gainbag into the water. We like to start with about 3 gallons of water. This allow for the evaporation that takes place during the boil
When the water reaches about 170 deg F., remove the grainbag-it has done its job.
Return wort to heat and bring to a boil.
Add malt extract stir add hops and keep stirring.
Boil for 60 minutes.
Cool wort to 80 degrees and add water to make 5 gallons.
Pitch yeast.
