If you're interested in trying this style -- don't hesitate to brew up this recipe. I've received numerous atta-boys for this brew. Rich dark brown color and a smooth finish.

Batch Size: 5 gallons
Starting Gravity: 1.050
Finishing Gravity: 1.005
Time in Boil: 90 min
Primary Fermentation: 7 days at 70 degrees
Secondary Fermentation: 7 days at 55 degrees
Ingredients:
- 5 1/2 lbs 2-row pale malt
- 1lb. Lager malt
- 1 lb. Vienna malt
- 1 lb. Crystal malt 90 L
- 1/2 lb. Crystal malt 20 L
- 1 1/2 oz. Black Patent
- Pinch Irish Malt
- 2 oz. Hallertau hop pellets
- 3/4 oz. Tettnang hop pellets
- 1 oz. Saaz hop pellets
- 1 pkg German Alt 1007 liq yeast
Procedure:
Mash in at 120 degrees for 30 min, increase temp to 140 hold for 20 min, increase to 155 and hold for 35 min. Mash out at 170 and sparge. Boil for 90 min. Add Hallertau hops after 30 min, add Tettnang hops after 60 min, add Saaz after 85 min.
