This weekend I brewed a 1/2 batch (2.5 gal)
using a single decoction process (my first time). This is the recipe.
Ingredients: (for 2-1/2 gallons)
- 3 pounds german wheat
- 1.5 pounds american 6 row
- 1/2 oz hallertau pellets
- Wyeast Bavarian wheat (3056)
Procedure:
I mashed in with 1 quart/pound of water. My first question
is: when I pull my decoction for separate heating and boiling
it is not very liquid, and indeed, during boiling it gets
pastey(starts sticking to bottom).
